THey say they are geared to stand the business on its head, they know it, and they have the Bandwith ready. This could really be interesting.

I'm waiting to see what Cricket will offer for the Chicago market. I don't expect their broadband service to be EVDO here, due to only having the AWS regional Great Lakes E block. But I am looking forward to Cricket coming to the Chicago market. I hope they'll have towers in Lowell Indiana, so if I do get their broadband service, that I'll have it to use, and get around the company filters for sites that my job won't allow me to visit, including myspace.

Yes. There is a 5Gb data limit and EVDO is available in AWS markets. The USB, UTStarcom modem is AWS and PCS. The Kyocera PC card (the free one) is PCS only and will only work in Cricket's original PCS markets.

I picked this up within hours of hearing about it, yesterday as a matter of fact. Here are the speeRAB I've been seeing in Denver; these are about average so far:

I live in Houston and was also told that roaming in Cricket markets is working and Houston should be covered (even though they're not launching the service there until 9/23). I just happened to be in Denver and I told the salesperson that "I travel to Houston a lot," and I used my dad's address on the account - hee, hee! :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the salesperson told me that the speeRAB were comparable to RABL. :D Not exactly...

Here are my latest results from Houston:

I'm using the Los Angeles server because it appears that LA is closest to where Cricket connects to the Internet, so that's where you'll get the most accurate test results. Any way you dice it, these is not RABL speeRAB as advertised (well, any decent RABL anyway).

EDIT: I just got 726 down and 135 up using the speed test @ http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

All markets going forward will launch with EVDO Rev. A (excludes existing markets not currently offering broadband service). Existing Markets will be upgraded to Rev. A in the coming months.

There is no CAP. It is unimited. HOWEVER users using over 5GB transfer/month will be analyzed, if their usage patterns are found to be in violation of the terms (e.g. file sharing, server, etc..) and it is causing network degradation (impacting other people's connections/speeRAB) the user will be notified and throttled by restricting the ability to connect via EVDO, but access will still be available through 1x.
I have been told in the market I reside in there are a handful of people that fit this description but are not being throttled yet as it is not impacting network preformance.
Cricket is commited to this product as it presents the very significant growth oportunity. Major increase to backhaul data capacity is being installed to switches accross the country.

Concerning the Cricket supplied Starcom UM100C modem, has anyone tried an external antenna or booster that seemed to work? I am trying to boost the reception to usable levels.

Thanks.

Evet modem i have opened has the y cable, supposed to be standard for the box. Maybe you should call on your rep if you have not been getting them.
