:^/ Hmmmm.... The Portland area seems to be one of two "JV Markets," whatever that it. Also, Seattle is scheduled for potential expansion. This is good for me because I have family there. I'll be able to use my phone when I visit.

I have a question about markets where MetroPCS and Cricket overlap that I wasn't able to ask on the quarterly conference calls:

Does Premium Extended Coverage still apply in these areas? I know that in Vegas Cricket's coverage is MUCH larger than MetroPCS and based on the incredible size of Cricket's recent Chicago launch there is no reason to think that this won't be the case in Philly as well. Do MetroPCS users in Vegas still get to roam on Cricket's towers for free? Will MetroPCS users in Philly get to roam on Cricket's towers? Or is there a special exception for markets that overlap?

Because if there isn't, then it seems like Cricket is just coming into Philly and improving Metro's effective network for free. I'm even saying this as a MetroPCS customer :). It seems like a key differentiator that would cause a customer to switch from Metro to Cricket would be the quality of the coverage, but if Philly Metro users with the extended addon get all of the same benefits, then why would they move?

I am hoping that this issue doesn't come up often. If the two companies are ever to merge then in my opinion these overlapping markets constitute wasted effort. It just seems to me that having "Extended Home Area" coverage (on Cricket towers), in what should be "Home Areas" for MetroPCS, hurts the competitive advantage that Cricket would otherwise have in Philly (and Vegas). Does anyone know the answer?

see page 17
the reason cricket does better than metro in vegas is that cricket has more partners for pec than just metro. metro just has cricket.

there is currently no data service when in pec. cricket will have the edge in the dc area... but metro will have an advantage among new york commuters

i've heard talk that in dual markets they are integrating the networks, dont quote me on that, i overheard someone and im not sure of the specifics at all.

You never know, Cricket could eventually turn into a Nationwide carrier (between pec and regular).... 2014?

Now what makes a carrier national?

% of the states?
% of the area codes?

Cause in my area, excluding roaming partners, Cricket has more coverage than T-Mobile.

The Joint venture markets are markets that are not fully owned by cricket

the Portland-Salem-Eugene areas are joint ventures between Cricket Communications, Inc., CSM Wireless(the people that own the "Revol" brand), and WLPCS Management.

Cricket just keeps growing and growing im loving it. Wish they would up there coverage in Kansas though. I take regular business trips to Topeka and there is no cricket coverage there and its the capital lol.

Cool, browsed the .pdf, but I didn't see anything much on the Location based services & Expanded User interface? Anyone know any details?

IMHO Cricket neeRAB to start carrying Blackberry's. Then I'd be a happy camper, I guess till then I'll just have to keep squeezing my Motorola for all it's worth.

There are plenty of hacked phones out there for cricket that can do way more then your razr lol. Try the htc diamond thats what i use and it kicks but.

AWS is different than what Verizon and Sprint use. Verizon and Sprint use 850 and 1900. AWS is 1700 Mhz. Therefore, you can't flash a phone unless it has the 1700 Mhz band, which is currently only Cricket and MetroPCS.
