I am 3 payments behind on my credit card. The credit card company has called my cell phone multiple times and I never returned their calls. Finally, they called my home phone and spoke with my dad. They told him that I was behind in payments and he made one payment for me. They told my dad that they were going to raise the interest rate to 30% so they advised my dad to get me to call them up. Isn't it against the law to divulge my credit information to anyone else without my permission? Isn't this considered a serious violation? Can I technically sue them? I'm really angry that they would tell one of my parent's about this. I'm an adult and I got the credit card when I was an adult. This is my business; I don't feel like they have the right to disclose that information to anybody but me. I'm not sure if this matters or not, but my dad did make a lump sum payment for me before but we both called on the phone together and therefore by me allowing my dad on the phone I was giving my permission for him to be made aware of my credit issues at that time so that he could give his bank account number to make a payment from his account. This doesn't give the credit card company the legal right to talk to my dad about my credit card again, does it?
