Creationists; what purpose does creationism have in a biology class?

While I am an atheist I'm not against creationism being taught in a religious class (in the UK we have something called Religious Studies) but why should it be taught as a controversy when it has no evidence to support it and why shouldn't the thousands of other supposed claims to our origins that have no evidence to support them not be taught?

You're totally correct, in the UK Creationism only belong in the classroom of Religious studies not Biology/Science. The sole evidence for creationism is the Bible and Intelligent Design is just creationism disguised as science.

You may also find that many Christian parents don't want their children taught creationism or anything other than pure science.

I was raised a Christian and my parents even let me get taught creationism at special church events. It wasn't until I grew up that dad told me it's an incorrect theory but he just never said anything earlier because our pastor was a staunch creationist. LoL

If you think that there is no evidence to support creationism, then you should have no reason to fear researching this. Try visiting a few creationist websites and consider the evidence they present. You may be surprised.

You may also be surprised how little evidence there is to support evolution.

I wonder why there is a reason that a person of faith is laughed away from his microscope. That's how I look at it. Religious scientists use the scientific method along with personal convictions.

Because religious crack pots need some way to get their foot in the door of something intelligent and scientific.
