Creating a new calendar event in a different time zone?

I noticed that calendar events will adjust themselves when my time-zone changes. If I create an event on the west coast at 8pm and I travel to the east coast, the event automatically changes to 11pm. Is there a way to create a new event in a time-zone that is not the one I'm currently in? For example, if I am on the west coast and I want to make a new event that begins at 8pm on the east coast, can I do that from the calendar app? I know I can go into settings and change set the time-zone manually to east coast time and then create my event that way but there has to be a more elegant solution that I'm missing!

I think the only way to do have an event set in a different time zone would be to make a new calendar and set it's timezone to EST. Then any new event you make in that calendar would be EST.

Other than that you could just subtract 3 hrs....

hasn't anyone made an App that allows adding an event with the start and end-dates in different timezones (which would be useful for adding flights)? It should also allow either start/end with a duration.. The app would calculate the timezones back to local time and insert the entries properly.

I am waiting for CE Steuart Dewar's Pimlical (http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/index.html) to be ported to Android, his DateBk{3-6} for Palm was/is phenomenal.

Until that happens a simple app as outlined above would be really nice..
