I dropped a external hdd a couple of months ago (when it was off, from a 6 inches down to floor), felt like doing the 'ol freezer trick, by placing it in a sealed Ziploc bag, and waiting a few hours. I was too anxious, so I took it out after 20 mins. I proceeded to connect it to my computer, and the usual happened, I went to go download the software for it, and suddenly, now when I plug it, now I get this message (link below). So obviously, the computer notices it's in there, cause before it wasn't without the software. Before, the software, it would beep this annoying siren like sound, doesn't do that anymore. MY COMPUTER MUST KNOW it's there, but it doesn't assign it a driver letter, or give it any way for me to get the data. Should I just put it in the freezer for longer, will this solve my problem? I JUST WANT MY DATA BACK, I don't care much for keeping the hdd, as long as I can have it long enough to get the 100 some odd gigs of data off of it. HELP!
