cracking noise in left ear and sharp pain in right ear?

For the last week I have had this crackling noise in my left ear...it sounds like there are Pop Rocks candies going off in my ear. It's driving me CRAZY!!! Can't sleep at night and I am getting really irritable because I can't get it to stop. I do not have health insurance at this time, so I am unable to see a doctor about this. Any suggestions as to what I could try to make it stop? Also i've noticed that it only happens when i swallow. Any ideas on what it might be and how i can get it to stop.

Yes. It is either a wax build up in the ear causing air flow disturbances or a build up of fluid doing the same thing. If it is fluid, plugging your nose and blowing to pop them might work. If it is wax, try either murine ear wax remover debrox ear wax remover for a week then using a dropper, gently flush out with warm water. If neither of them work, then you will have to see your doc. Good luck!

It's your neck muscles that are causing that to happen. They go to the top of your head passing just inside of the ears. When tight the can press onto the nerves to cause pains and/or hearing loss. In your case when you swallow they are touching enough to cause those noises instead. If you swallow you can feel the neck muscles go right up to your ear. To get rid of this problem you have to free up your neck muscles so they can't press into the nerves and here's how to free them up:
Neck Release:
Place your hands behind your head touching your fingers. Press into the back of your neck with them and hold the pressure on them. After 30 seconds slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended. Release the pressure but hold your head there for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
