cq60 laptop: cant reinst. conexant drivers "could not find MEDIA device for this...

...driver"? I "downgraded" my laptop to xp, which HP dosn't offer support for. Thanks to some tech guys on google I got all the drivers and they worked great.

What bothered me about the Conexant sound driver is it didn't offer support for microphone playback like all sound drivers have had since... windows 95. I need this in order to use a computer as an amp for a guitar.

So some guy online said try install realtek drivers. Being a noob I took this long shot and uninstalled my sound drivers and tried these. Didn't work. Uninstalled sound drivers again (realtek) and surprisingly the same installer I used in the first place (conexant) gives me this error now: "could not find MEDIA device for this driver"

I don't have any "exclamation points" in device manager. Just a few "question marks" for the sound devices

Help! Thank you for your time

Mic worked fine. It's just there were no microphone levels in volume control. Only in recording. Normally there is a microphone level in volume that is muted and simply needs to be unmuted for microphone playback. I've found online that conexant has pissed off a LOT of people with this senseless limitation. I'm sure there's a way around this but right now I just want my sound back

I definitely had the only, and right driver. Conexant actually makes modems and the fact that my sound card was made by them is unheard of an most likely another HP ripoff. I
