What did everyone think of this show? I never hear anyone talking about it, but i saw some episodes recently and thought it was pretty good, even though im not a big fan of westerns.
 
This is one of those series that's probably best remembered for the theme song and arcade game. (that thing was EVERYWHERE in the early 90s)

Otherwise, I remember enjoying it as a kid, but can't really remember it well enough to comment.
 
Wild West C.O.W.Boys of Moo Mesa is one of my Saturday morning old cartoons when I was a kid when I wake up early to watch it every Saturday which I love the western action parts, but I mostly loved the villains since they were awesome which my favorite villains are Sheriff Terrorbull/The Masked Bull, Saddle Sore & Boot Hill Buzzard(who're the Rocksteady & Bebop of the show), Bat Blastagun, Sid Arachnid, Gil A. Monster, Horribull, Skull Duggery, Billy the Kidder & Shock Holiday. It would of been a great show for Cartoon Network as well & Jim Cummings, Jeff Bennett, & Charlie Adler had a great performance of their characters for the show.

I love mutant animal villains,they ROCK!!!
 
I don't remember seeing the show much, but I saw the arcade game in a lot of places. The game was decent enough, but I don't really remember how the overall premise translated into the animated series.
 
There was an arcade game? I never saw it.

But I loved this show. I hope it gets a proper DVD release at some point. I know most of the first season was released on VHS when the show first aired on ABC, so hopefully one day the entire series will see the light of day again.
 
Wild West C.O.W.Boys of Moo Mesa was a Gunther/Wahl production that ran on ABC from 1992 to 1994. C.O.W. in this case being an acronym for Code Of the West.

It was an OK show, not a great show, but how often do you get a truly great show anyway? C.O.W.boys was significant in that Western themed shows are rarely tried in these modern times. The basic premise, cowboys who are literally bovine, gets old pretty quickly, but there were some fairly enjoyable episodes in there.

I played the video game. It was produced by Konami, who also made the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade games. It was basically a multi player side scrolling beat-'em-up in which you could play as 1 of 4 characters: Marshall Moo Montana, Dakota Dude, Cowlorado Kid and Buffalo Bull (who only appeared in 1 episode of the TV show). I was slightly surprised that J.R. (the Native American bull) wasn't used as the 4th character. He at least had a recurring role.
 
The Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa is one of those shows that I remember in a hazy, hallucinogenic way; many of the actual episodes blur together to me, but talk about a way-out concept.

It had a catchy theme song, though.
 
I honestly did not remember the show until I saw the old arcade game at a Godfather's Pizza a few years ago. To me the character look familar but I can't tell you anything about the show.
 
Yeah, because the creator either worked for Mirage or was a friend to the TMNT creators. I completely forget, and I have to look it up as to which one, but I'm pretty sure they worked together.

Does anyone remember the creator? Was he Ryan Brown? because I seem to recal hearing he was. And in that case, he was always an employee of TMNT and Mirage.
 
I never heard of it until I read a book on how to write scripts for animation written by someone who worked on the show and used the same darn episode as exemple at EVERY opportunity.
 
No, as in Nickelodeon's Back at the Barnyard.

And just for the record, there's no such thing as a male cow. A male cow is a bull, and they don't have udders.
 
The premise itself was weird. Basically a random comet fell to the southwest, and transformed all the animals into intelligent anthropomorphic westerners. It was kind of freaky when you think about it.
