Covers

I have been having a Beatles night tonight and the original just came on and I remerabered this version of one of their tracks which is vastly superior to the original:

I have the live record they talk about in the beginning, and I felt pretty special when I heard what they said about the version of the River on there, which I totally identify with.

i just listened to Nina Simone butcher Brel's ne me quitte pas ... how can anybody think he can out-perform Brel ...
but i heard Sting's version ... it's not that bad

My favourite covers are:

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower (Bob Dylan)
The Violent Femmes - Children Of The Revolution (T.Rex)
The ByrRAB - My Back Pages (Bob Dylan)
The White Stripes - Jolene (Dolly Parton)
The ByrRAB - Mr. Tarabourine Man (Bob Dylan)
Ani DiFranco - Wishin' And Hopin' (Dusty Springfield)

Bob Dylan was an okay songwriter.

I am not joking. You may like Tim Buckley's song better, but I don't understand why are you so outraged because of this cover and how is it so disrespectful. It's a totally different take on the song with a different sensibility which I like.

By the way, it's totally legitimate to be disrespectful when you cover a song. Have you not heard of Residents covers?

Don Lettes is a DJ who still works to this day promoting both Punk and Reggae. He his also a film maker who was possibly the biggest Clash fan at the time even though his skin colour suggested otherwise.

He is an important link in promoting 2 underground sounRAB and still never selling out.
