Coverage issues in NYC?

Since yesterday I've been getting GSM service in Bronx, NY. As soon as I get to my area in Queens, I'm ok with EDGE. Is there a known issue in the Bronx happening right now?

although i'm not in the Bronx a whole lot, I am in Yonkers-area quite a bit and I have friends in the Bx. they aren't having any issues (not that i know of anyway)

Yea I got the same thing n I'm stayin da bronx. Before this neva used to happen its been like this for the past week at least I get ny edge back around my house~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

I just called Tmobile, and no reported outages. They took me off the network and put me back on. Then they told me to take my sim card and battery out for a few seconds. Then when I restarted, the EDGE signal came back. Not even 2 minutes later, back to GSM and I had hanged up the phone already. What the heck? So I'm not the only one.

I'm having the exact same problem in Wickenburg AZ. Woke up this morning and service was GSM not EDGE. Then I drove to phoenix for school and it switched back to EDGE. Then when I returned to Wickenburg it fliped back to GSM.

Anyone know if what the problem, or better yet the solution, is?

I'm in westchester but when I pass back and forth to the bronx it only switched to GSM once and that was before I upgraded to 4.2.2.180

So do you really think that the upgrade resolved you EDGE issues?

I didnt even know the new update was out? I'll try it later. I've been looking forward to 4.3 though.

I don't even think that this is necessarily a blackberry (software or network) issue. Im thinking that this is a T-Mobile network issue.

I did speak with a CSR and he told me that there are repotedly some service problems for people who have had recent account changes. I'm taking that one with a grain of salt.

I hope whatever the issue is it gets fixed soon. Not having data services sucks, messes me up with work too as I rely pretty heavily on email.

I mean what kind of account changes? And how long ago...

Thats almost as good an explanation as the solution the csr lady explained to me. She basically said that I should do a battery pull once a day. I really controlled myself as I was at work

I hear you ocanyc. Same for me too. At work, plus it was obvious the CSR had no idea how to fix it.

Anyone out there got any ideas on how to fix this issue of only having a GSM connection vs the EDGE connection that I usualy have?

I'm a little late with my reply but I was in uptown manhattan this past weekend and I had GSM connection, I would get EDGE connection but only for a couple minutes and then back to GSM. As soon as I crossed the bridge to get back home, I had EDGE. I have the most up to date OS so I assumed it was just a T-Mobile issue in the city.

I put another call into Tmo yesterday. they told me they put in a service request for my area and then said it could take up to 72 hours for it to go through.

The good news is that I got EDGE service back this morning!!!!!
