Cover songs you think are better than the original

Radiohead - Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd)
David Bowie - Port Of Amsterdam (Jaques Brel)
REM - There She Goes Again (Velvet Undergorund)
Primal Scream - Know Your Rights (The Clash)
Motorhead - Motorhead (Hawkwind)
Ash - Does Your Mother Know (ABBA)

^ Tori Amos' "Strange Little Girls" Cd is excellent. She does covers of Slayer, Depeche Mode, Eminem, John Lennon, Neil Young, Lou Reed songs among others. Excellence.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band's "Blinded By the Light" is better thatn Springsteen's original.

I like the Beatle's cover of "Rock and Roll Music" better than Chuck Berry's version.

Laugh if you want, but I have always liked Bananarama's cover of "Venus" better than the original, done by The Shocking Blue.

Laugh even harder, but The Bangles did a great cover of "Hazy Shade of Winter" back in the 80's. It kicked a$$. I forget the original artist, though. The ByrRAB, maybe? I'm not sure.

I'm sure there are more I could think of.

as opposed to the other thread, cover songs that you think are better than the original.

Send Me and Angel - Thrice,
i cant remeraber who did the original but it was horrible.
