Courage in the Military?

Does the military teach you to be fearless? I know that if I were to join I'd be pretty freakin scared going to combat and all, but is there really a lot of danger in today's US military?
 
there's no such thing as being "fearless", but there is such thing as bravery :)
i'm sure it's pretty scary being in combat, but its a choice they made and i am sure they are proud that they are serving and protecting their country!
