Couple of n00b questions...

Well, today I'm getting my phone. A Nokia 6265i, with the unlimited everything plan.

I want to get my MP3s as ringtones on my phone, but I'm a little reluctant to buy a a USB connector. Is there any way that I can use my MP3s as Ringtones without using a USB connector? Do I need a SD card in order to do this? Any software that I need to use?

Same questions go for graphics..

Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

To get the most out of this phone--especially in the way that you intend on using it--you need to go ahead and get a MicroSD card of at least 512 Megabytes.

The USB cable is the most versatile means to access/store music/graphics/etc. on your phone, but there are other ways.

You could get a USB MicroSD card reader/adapter for your computer. You can also connect directly to the phone by BlueTooth with no hitches whatsoever.

No software is needed--connecting to the 6265i just works.

If you are just that cheap, you can always email yourself ringtones and graphics: Just send the files to [email protected]

All you need then is access to those files and a computer that you can email from.

FYI: You can also use camera/music videos as ringtones. If you want to use a music video, you will have to convert it using the Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0. It is a free utility. Google/search for it if you are really interested, but it's really easy to find and use so don't ask me anything further about it.

Congrats on your new phone!

Your host computer neeRAB to have a Bluetooth radio, either built-in or USB adapter/dongle.

Keep in mind that all current iMacs and MacBooks have Bluetooth built right in.

Using Bluetooth, you simply connect to your phone and browse its file system. And that's it.

You can also send files directly to the phone and send files from the phone to the host computer as well. This is how I upload ring tones to and download pictures from my phone, respectively.
