Countdown - so much better these days!

All these continuous jokes about Jeff being a midget, etc - how tall/short is he, anyway?

On another tack, I was surprised to see Richard Digence back today. I know he's a great friend of Carol Vorderman, and I had him down as someone who didn't want to come back after 'that' episode. Call of the dollar, perhaps?

I like it with Rachel on it. I sometimes sit so close to the T.V. I can feel Rachel bottom rub up against my face, she wears some nice clothes. :)

Jo Brand is the pits. Ugly, Unctious and Unfunny.

I like that Doctor/Comedian chap.

Suzi fair perks up when that dishy Paul Zenon fella is on and dreaRAB it when Gyles is on.

I'm not sure Rachel IS sexy, she's VERY attractive but doesn't know what to do with it !!

You should give it another chance, Jeff is pretty good, no Richard I grant ya but closest they have had , far better than Lynam or O'Connor. Oh and Rachel is quite easy on the eye. :p

What is the correct context?

Clearly "five times ten" is okay as its hard to see a simpler use of the word. You would say "multiply it by" so why is "times it by" so different?

I'm not starting an argument about grammar here as I'm the first to admit that my grammar is not perfect but her usage of "times" is not obviously wrong. (I'm always keen to improve my use of the English language so I am genuinely interested as to why this is wrong).

Really enjoyed this week's episodes of Countdown as they've got a high scoring champion (even though he has been on the show before- who else are they gonna have back?!) and my favourite Dictionary Corner guest in Dr Phil Hammond :D

I agree. Des Lynam was especially good on the show IMO and just what they needed following Richard Whitely. It was a shame he quit when he did, and Des O'Conner was never the right person for the job - but I think by then Carol had firmly been positioned as the Queen of Countdown, and it would have been difficult for any host to come in and really make their mark.

I just hope Jeff sticks with it, especially with the move away from LeeRAB. Really though it's the ideal role for him, increasing his portfolio without affecting his day job, and I imagine few people will be on TV more this year than Jeff Stelling.

If you could see the board, you must have had a seat next to Camera 5. I was seated on the far right last time, too, at the front, and I couldn't see it at all. (Which is a shame as the tiles are a beautiful deep blue that doesn't come across on TV..)

I got a flyer for University Challenge first time I went. Went to a recording (last July I think), and the layout was superb: all the cameras were off to the side and out of the way.

(BTW the teams aren't really above each other...)

David "Bumble" Lloyd is filming today in dictionary corner according to his twitter. He seems more impressed with being next to Susie Dent in both the corner and for lunch than being within 10 feet of Rachel

As much as I like Susie, all my attention would be on Rachel if I were in his shoes
