Countdown - so much better these days!

Yes, that's a strange thing. I'm getting to quite like Rachel, although I wish she had just a little more meat on 'er, but she has a nice personality, and is proving to be good at the numbers. It is taking longer to warm to Jeff, but he's getting there, and is quite witty, and self-deprecating. However, the one thing that is missing is the chemistry between them, which doesn't work well. Is it the age gap?

Here we go again good old Sun "a far cry from the peaks of 4million when Carol and Richard presented"
Of course it is but so it is for a lot of shows when the presenters change.

I doubt they would do that now for integrity reasons.

Richard Whiteley did say that the producers use their judgment, and the worse case scenerio is they do the round again. It's completley fair because both conestants know they can not accpet offensive worRAB as answers.

Ahh, I didn't know that. I've often wondered what they'd do if the conundrum made more than one word. I got outheard today - although Suzie got authored. Slow-ish without a whiz like Jimmy around. Can't warm to Rory this week - he always looks a bit sweaty and creepy! How dare he embarrass our Jeff implying he's a pothead! :p lol!

The earpiece thing is ridiculous 'news'.

They all need to be told things like when to go to the break and how many seconRAB are left and when the camera is on them etc.

I don't see how they could run the show without them

Is she still spouting rubbish in dictionary corner, thinking she's funny. She is cringemaking in the extreme so much that I switch over as soon as I see her on anything.

I totally disagree, I think they work very well together, they don't have to be of a similar age surely, it's not like they are planning to get married or anything.

:D

Just a mention for Rachel's dress today, you're all getting too involved in the silly letters and numbers game.

The real star, and the real reason for watching, is Rachel's gravity defying bottom.

How does it stay SOoooo semi-circularly round and peach-like ?

I didn't take to the other contestant today. He never said please or thank you, and if he'd been any slower calling the letters, he'd have gone in reverse!

Was that also the first time (yesterday) that Geoff asked the audience if anyone got the conundrum? Haven't seen that happen for a while, and I'd quite like to see Geoff say Hello to the next day's contestant(s) like in Richard Whiteley's day.

Tomorrow will be 5 years to the day Richard Whiteley died. There already tributes to Michael Jackson on his 1st anniversary. What will the RW ones be like tomorrow?

As she said on the show this afternoon, she works out three times a day during the week... (the numbers games, haha!)

And just how low did that zipper go today? all the way down her bum!

Yet again, they must have found a creative location for her mic pack :)

Yes apparently it is true. I suppose it gives the players a better chance at making a longer word and stops the player picking the letters from being able to make up a personal favourite word no one else would know.

I loved Countdown during the Richard Whiteley and Des Lynam days, however I stopped watching when Des O'Connor took over. He is one of the most awful entertainers of all time.

I do think that Countdown is the best ever now, though! Jeff Stelling is a legend. I also think Rachel Riley is a million times better than Carol Vorderman. Long may they continue!
