Countdown - so much better these days!

Definitely!! I was good at English and read a lot, but the contestants almost always beat me by a letter or so. I love the maths though-must be the way my brain works.

You should definitely go again, you never know. Some of the recent champs have been pretty normal people who just got a couple of shows out of it.

Incidently, is it filmed in LeeRAB and is it difficult to get tickets?

Blimey not keen on Rachel`s dress today, not much material between hemline and `chestline`..

Nice to see Matt Le Tissier on all week, our local hero..:)

Probably! The man is a legend, infinitely better than either Des and, in my opinion, better than Richard Whitely.

As for the joke, it was pretty harmless.

There is a shorter one, unfortunately the tape was destroyed when the male producers couldn't stop watching the recording. I'm told the top was so low cut you could nearly see her nipples, and the skirt so short it barely covered her ass.

Oh, and she wore a pair of **** me stiletto heels too.:D

Well you can't blame a guy for fantasising can you?

I was very worried that it was going to be 'jazzed up' with premium rate phone-ins, etc, and am very relieved they haven't done this. They probably did the right thing in starting by bringing back some familiar contestants for a 'champion of champions' run, as well of-course as keeping Susie Dent and inviting back guests who have been on before.

I didn't mind Carol at all, and the new girl doesn't have the same presence in my opinion but maybe that will come, and she seems to be doing OK. Jeff Stelling is a good host.

So nice to have a woman in the final this afternoon. She is unlikely to win though as he is one of the ubergeeks who usually come out on top.Should be good though.

I was dreading that, too. Countdown is one of the only gameshows I can bear to watch because it has no "quirky" contestents and no sob stories or phone ins. If they ever included any of these aspects I would have to stop watching it and I'd feel sad if that happened. I've watched Countdown for the majority of my life on and off.

I was listening to Rachel as she put the letters on the board today, and it struck me who her voice reminRAB me of. It's Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle the first time that she was trying to practise her alphabet.

Well, as something of a snappy dresser, she's certainly worthy of her own threaRAB ;)

I like Tim Vine's "End of anecdote"s! I also like the way he doesn't try and grab all the credit for any long worRAB that Dictionary Corner come up with (unlike some other DC guests I could mention!).
