Countdown - so much better these days!

It certainly has not got better. Jeff and Rachel have zero personality. He is completely wrong for this show. There is no way this programme will continue for another 25 years.
I would give it no more then 2 more years.

By heck you are easily pleased :D:D

Dreary Des and "I love myself so much" Carole ruined the programme.
It went downhill when RW dies and Carole almost took over.

It has certainly improved under Jeff and Rachel, so try watching again

If you're referring to an attempt to register at c4countdown it was probably just a mistake that you weren't activated. I think you should be able to email the forum admin (look for user "Charlie Reams") without being registered and then he can sort it out.

But to answer your actual question, the longest which I can ever remember was "LOUNGER", which cheekily both contestants declared as their longest word. Perhaps the greatest ever "word pre-empting a word", mind, during the 3,746th edition of the show:

The tea-time teaser INTEREMU (answer: MUTINEER) was followed by a letters round - and the longest possible word? MUTINEER!

As far as I know, you must pick at least 3 vowels and at least 4 consonants. So I don't understand why they deliberate over each letter choice. Why don't they just give them the 3 vowels and 4 consonants and let them think about the last two?

He shouts because of the frustration of being so close to her hotness, but being unable to do anything about it. I bet he has a wank and cries his eyes out after the show.

Today, the contestants manged to get 'SEXIER', which lead to a great shot of Rachel standing by the word on the board. That'd make a great screen shot.

The letters that 'sexier' came out of was a letter 'A' away from allowing the phrase 'SEXY ARSE' to be made.

They do have a giggle about it and handle it well. Richard used to go bright red! Are the letters completely random, so it's possible we could see the F or C word come up?

Yes indeedee , Dr. Phil, along with the Divine Tim Vine, my ideal Dictionary Corner Guest, funny, educational and a TV natural.
Jeff and Suzi are at ease with him and enjoy his contributions and he actually seems to like being on the show, as many other guests look bored and/or bemused, almost like it's a chore to appease their agents.

Much better semi today I thought. I always liked both contestants but it was good to see an upset seeding-wise. From what I recall Nikki was always good against tough opponents, whereas Danny may have had some easier games. And at least everyone politely asked Rachel for the letters. :)

I'm sure the men were not happy at all today with Rachel's choice of outfit. :)

It's possible for the F or C word to come up - but you wouldn't see it on the telly, the contestant would be asked to pick again. Likewise, if a contestant submitted a rude but valid word, they would receive the points but would be asked to re-record the sequence using a clean word.

The one Richard Whitely moment I remember is when the last four letters on the board were A-R-S-E

And Richard said "You've got 30 seconRAB to get to the bottom of it" :D
