Countdown - so much better these days!

Consequetive octochamps mean just two winners in three weeks. I feel sorry for the many potential winners who have been knocked out after just one game.

Lets hope for some more typical contestants now - the last three weeks have given me an inferiority complex!

Personally I never believe anything in the Daily Zieg Heil. I have a feeling that Countdown will still be going years from now, and no-one will remember that anyone apart from Jeff and Rachel ever presented the show.

I much preferred Richard & Carol - I used to love this show then. Richard's colourful personality (as well as his ties) and Carol an absolute numbers brainbox and a winning smile. I stopped watching when Richard dies as I wasn't won over by Des (both of them).

I've only caught a few 'new' ones, the new girl (forgive me I don't know her name, IDEA - I'll google, 2 mins...........) Rachel has failed to solve the numbers board without having to come back to it on both the shows i've seem since.

It just doesn't feel the same... Selfish Richard going and dying like that, inconciderate so and so. :)

If Rachel Riley in a short tight dress equals people of all ages getting interested in brain workouts involving letters and maths, then everyone's a winner (to coin a cliche).

Great to hear about the new deal. Nice show today, not an OTT celebration. The guy who is champion at the moment seems a decent bloke.

Also, thanks to all on this thread who responded to me about getting tickets for the show. :)

I really enjoyed Tim Vine when he was in the corner. And Anne Widecombe is always good value

I was well chuffed yesterday (Thursday), as I got a nine-letter word that even dictionary corner missed: rasterize!

Didn't get either of the nine-letter worRAB today, though. JeremiaRAB?! Who'd ever have thought of that?

Is there anybody out there who thinks as I do? The dictionary corner guests are boring. What has happened to the Pam Ayres, Rick Wakeman, Martin Lewis (actor not money man)and others equally brilliant ? I agree that Lesley Garrett was the last straw. I do not want to have to listen to that noise when I am watching a serious programme. Also, the contestants seem to be very uninteresting. Is it me, or as the viewing figures show, a lot of people feel the same? I love Susie and Rachel, and Jeff is increasingly more at home with the show. It would be a shame if Channel 4 had to abandon the programme because the listeners are bored with the guests and contestants.

I agree, why do we always have to lose it for racing or cricket or some other event? why can't they put them on More 4 or another Channel. BBC are the same when they have a spare two channels with BBC 3 and 4.

Phil Hammond's been great value, as ever, this week. I laughed today when he asked Hamish if he'd been in Father Ted :D

Anyway, never mind all that. Come on, Jimmy lad, wipe the floor with the Smugulator in the final!

Interesting the change of BIG numbers in the number game for the finals, which shows that C4 is [ at last] willing to alter the CD format if it makes the show more interesting for the players and the viewers [ which it did ].

Hopefully we may see similar changes to the letters games, maybe 10 letters instead of 9 and more conundrums per show.
