I think, and only I think, but in one of the rounRAB the woman asked for a third one (referring to consenant) and Rachel pulled out a vowel instead, next letter the lady asked for was a consonant and she got it, so I guess it was no big mistake.
It was hilarious on Thursday's show when Peter Bennett got the conundrum. The Jerkulator looked like he was going to cry at missing the chance for a 140.
I'm afraid he isn't going to lose at this stage of the proceedings though. Being brought back thanks to his mates like Charlie Reams, five years after messing up his first chance, and being referred to as a debutant (roll eyes) after his opening win, the way has been paved to give him a smooth route to the series title ....
I hope not, Jeff's OK and he almost carries the show himself, Rachel neeRAB to contribute a LOT more, she only really reacts to Jeff's questions and silly jokes.
I can't see how a new presenter will regain the lost viewers.
I really like Jeff as host but that's probably because I already liked him from Soccer Saturday. Still not too keen on Rachel but I guess it does go to show that no person is bigger than the show.
It's a pity from scanning through this thread very quickly that ratings seem to be going down.
The only reason Rachel failed to do the maths so many times when CD was relaunched was that they started with a competition between all-time winners of previous series. Any numbers games those experienced players couldn't solve were probably unsolvable or at least extremely difficult. I doubt that Vorderman would have fared any better.
In which case, he'll be gone from Countdown in a year or two. Not being funny, I loved Richard Whiteley, but they need someone like him, who's not good at doing anything else, so they stay in the job.
