Countdown - so much better these days!

Can't stand Countdown now Carol has left - the new girl is extremely self-conscious and has the personality of one of the Countdown tiles. The show is over for me.
 
Unfortunately I don't get chance to watch the programme as much as I used to due to work commitments, however I do enjoy watching the show when I am able to. One thing that does irritate me though is Rachel's dress sense. Why doesn't someone from the wardrobe department tell her that those shift dresses she wears tend to make her bottom stick out? They really don't suit her!
 
i think that they should just say 3 vowels and 6 consonants or whatever combination they need and for them to be picked at random like scrabble letters. Similar also to the numbers getting picked....then it would reduce their "word thinking" time. I'm sure that some linger over their choices so that they can think up worRAB as the letters come out.
 
Why is it a beauty contest or a fashion show then? cos I thought it was a quiz show

I object to being called a hypocrite.

Tbh I do not really have that strong views on her - shes OK -the Man U comment was a bit tongue in cheek but anyone who knows anything about football would know that there is no love lost between Man U and Liverpool. Also my positive comments re Carol were made cos (as I explained) I have had some contact with her and her family and that contact has been positive.

Vast sums paid to presenters sit uneasily with me - that comment applies to many not just Rachel - Carol for one!! - who earnt millions from doing the numbers on Cdown - dodgy priorities there from the TV bosses imo - but if they offered it you you'd take it wouldn't you so nothing personal to those 2 ladies or any others there - its the bosses at fault..

Also having an 'Imelda Marcos' type mentality where people have hundreRAB of pairs of shoes and clothes bugs me and I sense that is what Rachel is like as I have never seen her in the same dress or shoes twice to my knowledge - not that I keep a record of this as frankly it is unimportant..

It's a quiz show as I said and to me it would not matter who did the letters and numbers and if it is true (and it may well be) that Cdown viewing figures have gone up due to having a woman wearing tight fitting clothing doing the numbers then it is a sad indication of a lot of things to me.
 
Carol never wore the same outfit twice either and if you remember, for the first 15 years she was always very frumpy with hair and clothes, until she started to have detoxes, work on her face and boobs and in her last couple of years on Countdown she was dressing quite tartily at times, considering how old she was at the time!

At least Rachel's young and wears clothes and shoes like girls of her age wear. For all we know, she might be 'loaned' a lot of clothes from some of the shops and I doubt they cost her a fortune anyway!
 
Rachel has been very good at the numbers this week. She still seems quite nervous though; we really need to start seeing some of her personality.
 
I don't agree that it's past its sell-by date - quite the opposite in fact Rachel and jeff have breathed new life into the show and I think it's at its best right now. Certain people just want the show to fail and are gutted that some of us actually prefer it nowadays.
