Could Top Of The Pops cut it in the digital age

My view is that the format would require a drastic overhaul if a channel brought it back

On the other hand it may be best to let it rest in peace to be remembered for how it used to be

I don't see why it needs to come back. There's plenty of live chart music on other entertainment programmes and of course online. The programme only existed in its later years because it was so old and seen as a BBC classic. There was little modern or current about the brand, even the name is cringe-worthy. Just let the programme die and move on with the times.

A name change would be easy - 10+ million tune in to see amateurs murder classic songs on TXF and BGT. Admittedly the charts mean little these days but music is as popular as ever.

A 30 minute show even once a month - guests like beyonce, christina aguilera, lady gaga, eminem etc.... even via satellite performing live ( autotune if required but zero miming allowed:D )

If for example the BBC did run it up against say Emmerdale or FF it would pull in a decent rating in primetime - some shows only get 2.5 million - so it could hardly do worse.

True. I think it's better to be able to listen to music where you want and when you want and listen to what you like rather than just what's in the charts. With the internet it's also easier to listen to all sorts of different music from all over the world
