...taking steroids? Last Late November, Wrestling finals were on and all the schools in the district were competing. My son who was 16 who has been on the wrestling team for 2 years was competing as well. There were about 20 different school teams and the Gym was packed. My son competed in the 205-225lb weight class (where the kids in this category were a little overweight but big deal) and had 5 matches with other kids in his category.
While I was watching, in the same weight class as my son was another student who was on the 212 lb mark going against others He was about 5'8-5'9.He honestly looked like he was 30 as well.. The very odd thing was, he was muscular to the point it didn't make sense(for anyone to be that muscular let alone a 10th grader) and completely cut with veins popping out everywhere. Other parents and wrestlers who were there were watching him in complete shock, as it was VERY visible he was taking Steroids, thats what popped into my head immediately. I saw his matches and it was clear none of the other kids stood a chance against him, he showed no sportsmanship never shook any of the kids' hands after the match, and was way too aggressive for high school level. One of his matches one student had to stop because he hurt his arm against him and had to go to the hospital, and another student broke his nose from getting slammed into the ground but apparently the move was still "legal". Some of his family or friends or w/e were watching him and yelling telling him to "kick his ***" or"show him who's boss" and all of these guys appeared to be big huge steroid monkeys as well, and were adults.
I anonymously told one of the admins/refs in charge that I did NOT want my son going against that boy and to have him go against someone else in his weight class. They said it wouldn't be a problem, and apparently there was another parent who said that as well. He ended up coming first place and was awarded at the end, when they said his name, they also said his grade, GRADE TEN-15 OR 16 YEARS OLD.I can try and give you a picture, but if you saw then you would know-steroids-. Something was definitely wrong, sad that the school district would allow that.
My question being, if you were me and the same situation with your son, would you have told the ref that you wouldn't want your son going up against someone like that? explain please
