Could someone please Help?

Im worried about one of my Relatives! She has begun to 'Slur' some words on occasions, and sometimes forgotten things!

She's been to the doctors, who tested her blood, and told her to come back on the 16th Febuary. And Hospitals don't usually get you back that quickly unless there is something really wrong! She had an 'attack' on new Years eve, where she couldn't pronounce her words properly, and the Doctor gave her medication. ( Anti-coagulants i think )

She isn't old so i don't know what it might be! Could these Symptoms be something like Alsimers? (sp?) Or could the Artery's in the neck be restricting the blood flow to the brain?

Timmi I am brand new here so plse bear w/me.I would think that it is like something I had ,which turned out to be a Mini-Stroke.I would suggest that your Mom should seek immediate attention to be on the safe side. (ER,perhaps)That's where my wifw took me at 5:30 in the morning. They immediately took a brain scan to see if I had correct blood
flow to the head.I was admitted and was ok by that evening.Good luck.Keep your cool,if possible. Bill

Yes it does sound like a mini stroke. Any weakness in her arms or legs? Or blurry vision? Headache? Don't wait until February. A very serious stroke could happen at any time. Don't mean to scare you, but it sounds serious.
Good luck

Timmi,

Lots of things can cause those symptoms...something as "simple" (if there is such a thing as something simple) as poor diet or poor sleep or the incorrect dose of a medication. Of course it could be something more serious.

But given the fact that she's under the care of medical professionals, and you'll have more info on the 16th, it's best not to worry or to jump to conclusions until she gets more info.

Take care and let us know what happens.

Slurring words is, among other things I'm sure, a symptom of strokes. Does your relative have a history of high blood pressure?

I would not be so worried about the doctors wanting to see her again so soon; it does not necessarily mean they think something is seriously wrong. If the suspected that, your relative would have been admitted to the hospital.
