I was thinking about the 1986 Honda CRX i want to buy. I want it because its a 5-speed, has been 'converted' to a pick-up lol, ad is a neat little rare scooter of a car a la Pontiac Fiero. The issue is it has: 'Unknown Carb issue, starts and barely runs, will die if gas is pressed, wont rev up.'
I was wondering if that could be old fuel. He said 'barely ran last year' and has many vacuum lines. Could old fuel be the cause of this issue, if its been there more than ayear?
Is draining the fuel out and puttingin 1) new fuellines and fuel filter and 2) checking?rebuilding the carburetorand fuel 'dump pump' maybe fix the whole thing, along with a full tank of new fuel?
And do carburated cars run better on hugher octane?
Anything else maybe causing that, or could old fuel have destroyed 'everything' fuel related' (except tank) and is it easy or 2) medium or 3) hard for a mechanic to 'overhaul the fuel system,) and how much would that cost at a shop rate? Thanks
