Could it be that my Laptop is does NOT support a dual - boot environment PLEASE help?

I have this new, just one year old HP laptop. Specifications:

HP G60 Notebook PC

AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 1.90 GHz.

3 GB RAM

Now, I tried to install Ubuntu Linux using the supplied CD, but is gives a message like 'tty not ready.' But it goes through the boot sequence fine.

What does this mean ? How can I correct this.
