Could it be argued that Jesus started the Catholic Church?

I hear all of these people bashing Catholics all the time, but Catholics hold one thing all of these "mega churches" don't: Historical legitimacy.

It seems logical, to me, even from a scientific standpoint that if you are studying something historical, you would want to associate yourself closest to the event. Catholics have many places and artificats directly associated to life of Jesus.

The Shroud of Turin
There are dozens of Catholic Churches in the Middle East that archeaologists have determined they date back to a mere 50 years after Jesus's ressurection.

If you are Christian and are denying Catholicism as the one true religion, you are denying you came from your own grandparents.

Dozens of churches? Name one.

All of the "places" and "artifacts" associated with "Jesus" were, for the most part, "discovered" by Constantine's mother, Helena. Read Constantine's Sword by James Carroll and see the truth of the founding of the Roman Catholic Church.

There are NO priests in the New Testament Church. No popes either, for that matter. Peter was NOT a pope. Peter was married. Peter didn't want to be looked upon as any better than anyone else. You are the one in denial, NOT the Christians!
