Instead of standard resin, could I use a two-part casting compound like silicon carbide as a matrix for carbon fibre to increase its heat resistance?
In response to mike1942f, you can buy two-part silicon carbide ceramic casting compounds. As you stated, they are most often used for metal casting, but are not required to be fired at high temperature.
