Could I have Hypoglycemia or something else?

Hi.

I'm a 17 year old male from the UK and I've been experiencing some strange symptoms over the last 5 days or so.

Before you start reading just let me say that I've been diagnosed with an health anxiety disorder since I was 15 years old. I worry about everything heath related, but this time I really don't think anxiety is causing these symptoms.

These symptoms come and go randomly in the day and can lost up to an hour or so. It could be less it could be longer, I can't really remember.

Even if I've had a pretty big meal, an hour or so later my stomach will feel empty and my body will start to feel as if it's shaking. These symptoms are accompanied by dizziness, confusion and slurred speech. Also, when these episodes come on I start to feel very depressed and down. The best way I can describe the shaking is that it feels like a cold shake, the sort of shivering you get when you're in a cold place, but not as intense.

It is a very uncomfortable thing to have, because it's as if my stomach feels constantly empty. My stomach feels empty but I do not feel like eating... It's strange. As if I have no appetite, but I will force my self to eat because I will try and relive of the symptoms.

I first had these symptoms when I was at the dentist having a tooth removed. The dentist inserted the needles that numb the tooth (sorry, I don't know what the medical terms are) and after I stood up and started to feel very dizzy and faint, the dentist said I could possibly have had a low blood sugar episode so they gave me a fizzy drink and continued with the extraction. After the extraction everything was fine so maybe it could have been a bit of anxiousness, but I find it very strange that I had never had the symptoms I'm experiencing now until I went to the dentist that day,

So guys, do you think I could have Hypoglycemia? I am going to see my doctor as soon as possible but I think I'll have to wait another week or so.

This is really worrying me because I read that Hypoglycemia can kill you and put you into comas. Should I be really worried about this?

If there is anything else you want to know please feel free to ask and I will be happy to tell!

Thanks very much for reading.

Do you feel better after you have eaten when you have these episodes? If so, it could be low blood sugar. A good way to get your blood sugar back up fast is to drink a gladd of orange juice. THat will get you back up on your feet quick.

I do think that you should get in to your doctor and have him check your blood sugar.
