Im five days late from getting my period. I took a pregnancy test where one line means negative and two lines means positive. It showed up as negative but the first line was clear and the second line was faded. I only noticed it when i looked at it really close. I just don't know why it was so faded. Could it be wrong? Am I pregnant?

You know that statistic on the commercial "one in three women will mis read a traditional pregnancy test" ? Well it is easy to do. Any line faded or not is considered a positive result. The second line is detecting hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) and the fact that it is faded only means you don't have much in your urine. Test again with first mornings urine and you will get a darker line.

At 5 days late I doubt it. The test says that 98% of people who are pregnant will get a positive the day of the Missed period. It says so on the box...but some people do not, so who knows

I'd definitely buy another 3 pack of tests to make sure. One test isn't enough when it is faded like that. And like another person said, it is best to do it first thing in the morning, when the urine is most concentrated. If it comes out negative then, more than likely you are not pregnant. Those tests are designed to pick up a VERY small hcg level, which rises pretty quickly if pregnant.
