Recently, my husband was contacted by a child in a different state claiming he's the father. The details according to the child were that the mom was pregnant at the time they lived together. The mom was 17 when she got pregnant and had been kicked out of her mom's house, so her sister took her in briefly. The mom was dating 2 guys at the same time before she moved in with my husband. By the way, she told my husband she really wanted to have a baby and was determined to. For some unknown reason, the mom abruptly left my husband after running up an enormous phone bill to someone out of state. The mom originally stated her pregnancy, but showed no pregnancy test or paperwork... nothing at all. My husband being naive assumed she was faithful although her past included promiscuity. The mom was also known for having one night stands. The child looks nothing like my husband. What should we do next? Take a paternity test? Could we see birth records? We have our own family and are happy. We don't want to him to " take the fall" so to speak. Please help us get on our way to resolving matters so we can proceed. This is really affecting me physically and I need answers or input.

Thanks so much.
Forgot to add...I'm very supportive of my husband. It was because of me that he even emailed back to the girl. All of our 6 children have many of my husband's features, that's why I mention we didn't notice any resemblance. Since we live out of state, how would we go about DNA testing?
We found out that the mom has another child & the dad had to establish paternity for that child 10 years ago. Maybe she wasn't sure who the father was. I really appreciate the different input.
My husband mentioned that the mom had had irregular cycles when they briefly dated. She had also been bleeding when she left him to move out of state. She was supposedly 3 months along at that time.

First of all, there needs to be actual proof of this claim..the mother would have to file for DNA testing..to prove that your husband is the father of this child..the burden of proof is on the other woman..
