Could a second South Park movie work?

South Park's Bigger Longer and Uncut was something of an anamoly as far as big-screen adaptations of modern adult TV cartoons go. Unlike The Simpsons Movie and Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, both of which came out after the shows found their proper footing and had been established, the South Park movie came out pretty early in that show's lifetime, arguably before the show reached it's peak, and as a result the movie feels quite different from the most recent SP seasons.

If, Trey and Matt were to make another South Park movie that better reflects the atmosphere of SP's most recent seasons, would it work as well Bigger, Longer and Uncut did?

I would imagine:
- It would be much more politically pointed than Bigger, Longer and Uncut was, probably comparable to Team America
- It would possibly build off "Imaginationland", similar to how BLU built off the first-season episode "Death". Apparently one SP guy wanted Imaginationland to be a ful-length feature, which didn't happen
- It wouldn't be a muscial, or at least there would be a decidedly different flavor to the songs.
- Stan's Dad would be a driving force in it, as opposed to Kyle's mom in BLU.

Though I'm not a fan of the show (three episodes with a bunch of cruses are too much for right now) I think it was the potenial for another movie, but after it is finsihed with the next 2 or so seasons. Kinda of a finale.

It seems even though Matt & Trey keep saying they don't want to do one, they keep coming up with these 2 and 3 parters that could easily fit into movie length. I expect another South Park movie, but probably not until the series ends or just before it does.

Yes, I think it could work because they are really good at multi-part episodes.

I'm can't imagine a new South Park movie being all that great. I personally am not really fond of the direction the show has taken in recent years. A sequel would certainly be different from the original but I don't think it would be anywhere near as good.

Just my opinion.

The 1999 movie was basically the epitome of anything epic they could have done, more or less. Though the world is almost always in peril every season for reason, so a movie would be a moot point.

What I've heard is that they wouldn't do another movie unless they were sure it would be as good as the first one. They know expectations would be high, and the show is still going strong, so I think they're fine with things the way they are at the moment.

They couldn't focus on a new movie without the quality of the show suffering. Look what happened when we got the first movie, and Team America. We got some of the worst episodes of the series (Jakovasaurs being the worst example) during those periods.

Boondocks is a prime example. McGruder just said that he basically couldn't do one or the other without one getting worse in quality, so he chose the show.

Same thing if you make another carton while your other is still runing. The other one starts to fail. Actually I can compare this to quite a few other cartoons (PPG, EEnE, etc.)

Indeed, I feel a series finalie film would work best. I remember in the late 90's when word of mouth rumors stated they were making a Simpsons movie was that would be the thing they use to close the series. Not the case, and it was just a stupid word of mouth rumor.

But that seems the only way to end a cultural phenomenon like that.
