Could a military coup happen in the United States of America?

It could happen anywhere that has a military. Only the cooperation of the military in general prevent a coup. If the military leaders in our country saw that there was a lot to gain from such an act, there would be very little to stop them assuming the lower echelons followed their orders.
Really, the only thing that stops such a thing is that the average service man or woman might not participate in coup. Our democratic form of government makes it harder (not impossible, just harder). Americans value democracy very much and are not likely to cooperate with a government they did not choose. Our widespread media also hinders things like coups.
Besides, most of the higher ups are chosen by the administration. Why would they seize power from the person that gave them their authority?

This administration has insulted and brought shame to our nation and veterans..as some stated, they are sitting on the wall of shame.Illegal immigrants are ILLEGAL. Not to be given rights we have earned and they have not. Social programs in Calif have bankrupted that state by the illegals..
Bank of America issued credit cards to illegals and now we pick up the tab for that...

Excellent question. Listen to Glenn Beck, Hannity, Rush Limbaugh who is trumpeting the alarm what is happening. Our country that we (not the administration) has fought and shed blood for is being undermined, and destroyed forever, it people don't start standing up against the wrong.

Private business did try to do it back in 1934 and the same companies that were the cause of it are still around: JP Morgan, DuPont, etc. All these companies are still around and why because money buys innocence. These same companies caused the Great Depression and are the cause of our current one.
The NSA did take out JFK because he went against the grain. I can expect the CIA / NSA to do something like that because they have their own agenda. As for the military, well, they might or might not but for whose benefit (the peoples or a few individuals). Since they drink and eat the same food we do, they might be influenced by chemicals that are in our food (fluoride, mercury, etc) which is used to make us docile and lower our IQ.

That is impossible, because the US military is under the control of the Commander in Chief, or the US President. The military couldn't even think of putting a plan like that into action without the President's knowledge.
All those involved would be found out, arrested on charges of treason, and pay a fine of $10,000 and possibly face life in prison.

The states will buckle under disastrous economics, and the morally bankrupt government. When the states dies it will be from within their own government, not from the people nor the peoples armed forces.
