Could a male betta fish survive in an aquarium that's in an air-conditioned room?

I don't keep the air conditioner on 24/7, just on in the afternoons and nights during the really really hot months, which are May-beginning of December (I live in Hawaii). And I usually keep the temperature at 76 degrees. If it's extremely hot then I lower it to 72 degrees.

Do you think a betta could live in a room that's sometimes air-conditioned?

It could survive. However, chances are, all the money you'll need to spend on medicines and treatments and new Betta fish and bleach to sanitize the home and etc is going to out-cost the price of getting a 5g tank with a heater and filter. The temperature needs to be steady. You may think that only having him in the cold sometimes would make it less risky but that makes it WAY, WAY worse. He'd be happier living in a steady 72f tank than one that is sometimes 76, 82 at nights, and 74 at times.

I think so. I bought my Beta Fish in May of last year and I had the A/C on afternoon/evenings and all day weekends. As long as the fish is not directly in the way of the air flow it should be fine. Good luck!
