Could 1 negative grooming experience cause problems for future grooming visits?

I ask because I have a poodle who never does good at the groomer.

He had this one groomer for about a year and he did wonderful with her but she left the company and the new groomer he didn't do well with and he came home cut up. And since then he hasn't done well with grooming.

Until today.

I took him to a groomer that my past dogs went to and she was so good with him and so patient, she was able to groom him without a muzzle even. She feels if we can do a few more good positive groomings he is young enough to learn its okay. So the next few groomings she is going to take some extra time with him.

She said he did fantastic, only growled at her once and she talked to him and calmed him down and he let her finish the job no problems.

The last 2 groomers asked that we didn't bring him back, but she was fantastic with him. And she thinks that before long he will be over his fear of the clippers.

So I'm so glad that we can get him over this.

But as the question above stated.
