Hi,

First off, I'm a 24 year old male, good health and average weight (could stand to get more exercise, but by "good health" I mean no diseases that I know of), nonsmoker and nondrinker. As far as I know I have no allergies, no asthma or related medical conditions. I'm in a monogamous relationship with my girlfriend and for the past 2 weeks, after having an orgasm I have a pretty bad cough that lasts for a few minutes. Usually it makes me gag and hurts my throat, sometimes I throw up a bit. Also whenever I just walk into the bathroom in my apartment, I often start coughing/gagging pretty violently. It's not EVERY time, but most times - and it even happens in the bathroom at my gf's house.

Rewind 2 weeks and a half or so. I had a fever with chills and a headache, but it went away really quickly (3-4 days). After this, the only symptom I had was a pretty bad cough that happened pretty much everywhere. I was gagging quite a bit, and my throat was really sore/swollen. I went to the doctor about the cough and the only thing he could think of at the time was strep, so he swabbed my throat. The test came back negative, and eventually the cough *mostly* went away, except for the 2 situations I originally mentioned. I think the cough was always worse in the bathroom, but I'm not sure about post-sex. In addition, it was a little more common for me to be coughing in the other areas of my apartment and my car. My apartment and car are pretty messy (and there's dust), which I've been working on, so maybe that plays a part in it? Anyone have any ideas?

In summary (in case the time line isn't clear):

first 3-4 days was headache/chills.
next 2 weeks was a pretty bad cough that happened frequently.
next 2 weeks (up until right now) has been a pretty bad cough only after sex and whenever in the bathroom.

I guess I'll go back to the doctor soon, but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. I see other questions on here about coughing after sex but they're mostly from older men with a lot of medical problems, or younger guys that have a different story.
