I'm 18 years old, female, live in Virginia... not sure what else you need to know for an insurance quote, but about how much would it cost to insure?

Let me know if you need more info.

By the way- I've heard many, many times this bike is great for beginners- is this true? What are your recommendations?
Also, this may sound stupid but I'm just starting to research bikes but what does the R stand for in 250r? What's the difference between that and 250cc, or is it the same thing? I understand cc to be cubic centimeters, or a .25 liter engine

To give you an idea i was quoted 215$ for a 2009 for one way and theft. I'm 20 years old and male. This however is in Canada. But ballpark i'd say 300-500$ USD to be fully insured.

The Bike is a Ninja 250R. The actual model is the EX250-J. In both the 250 does refer to it's 249cc engine.
To me the R stand for retarded because any time insurance sees it they have a high price. Really though i think it stands for Racing

Cost of insurance depends on a few things

1) riding experience/age

2) size of bike (that's already covered)

3) Insurance group (in england a bike is grouped at different levels e.g. my 650 bandit is a group 10 or 11 can't remember which cost me £300 ish pounds im 22 by the way.

My first bike was a suzuki 125cc marauder top speed of about 55 mph, my first year cost me close to £2000 pounds. Yeah you read it right thats not me getting carried away with the 0 button.

My best advice is phone around different companies. I manged to get the insurence for the bandit halfed and plus leather and helmit cover and break down cover, plus european cover all for free by phoning around.
If you don't phone round you may end up with a bad deal.
