Cost to fix Jeep Wrangler muffler?

I was driving and I hit a huge bump and all of the sudden my car was driving really loud. I believe that I damaged my muffler (?)

Does anyone know the cost to fix a muffler on a 1997 Jeep Wrangler?

I already called a shop but they were not able to give me an estimate. I just want to prepare myself for what the cost could be.

it really depends what is wrong, this is why they did not quote you. i would say if the pipe is fine and all you need is a new muffler it would probably be close to $200 for a basic muffler with instalation. but if you need a new pipe too well it would be around $600 or even a little more. personaly i would do the work myself because it is of such high cost to get someone to do it. but other wise you are for sure looking at a couple hunderd dollars.
 
It all depends some muffler shops could fix it for very cheap also you could go for a nicer sounding aftermarket muffler like a magnaflow so its not ridiculously loud. But over all it'll vary. Id say either get a new aftermarket muffler or just a replacement oem which you could probably find for around seventy bucks online and than have a muffler shop weld it up for like 40 bucks just call around and ask prices
