cost of taking a bike on a international plane?

im going to japan from u.s i plan on getting a bike bag to store my bike in it.is it the same cost has i was going to check in any kind of bag
 
Do you mean motorcycle or bicycle?
You cant take it with you as luggage. You have to send it via cargo. The only thing you need to worry about is the duty that you will have to pay on the bike. In many countries it will be equal to or more then the value of the vehicle. It would really make more sense to just buy a new bike in japan.
