cortisone injection

I had a cortisone injection last week for impingment of the right shoulder, while it was extremely painful the pain went almost straight away, The side effects are horrendous my face looks like its been slapped its so red, my temp is up and my BP is up and down and to top it off I developed cystitis this morning, the doc told me to expect pains in my head but nothing like this I feel so ill I prefer the shoulder pain. Has anyone else experienced any of these side effect please.

Yes, that sounds pretty normal - all except the cystitis. High BP, wound up like an 8 day alarm clock, headaches, etc. Should go away in a week or so.

I had a cortisone last week thursday for an ankle chip fracture that I've been dealing with since last year August but just recently found that I had it about 3 weeks. I had a flare but neither the swelling or the pain have gotten better on the contrary the pain has gotten worse I now have pain in places of my foot I've never had, has anyone else expirienced this? Or is it going to change (get better) maybe I expected it to work almost right away, i don't know I hope someone can give me advise

yes, I did. I also had high blood sugar too. The night of the injection, I broke out in a horrible sweat, had a headache so bad it brought me to my knees. I looked like a beet. To add insult, it didn't help the back pain.

just came back to thank you guys yes you were quite right it all went away in about 5 days and im back to my normal old self now, by the way the cortisone took the pain away for about a week but but the shoulder is back to hurting like hell.

Hi ... yes, definitely many symptoms to a steroid injection (red flushing, heart rate goes up, nauseasness possibly) ... I, too, have impingement of the right shoulder along with many other problems and have had the steroid injection at least 5 times, possibly 6 times now and will have one more injection next week ... the drs. do not like giving out this many injections because it can start softening the rotator cuff and make matters even worse (most drs. will do 2-3 injections) ... so I'm scheduled for surgery in a few months. I've had this problem going on for a few years now, but the first year the dr. would put on an "iontophoresis patch" with each visit which would help just a little ... not sure if your dr. has tried that with you (it looks like a very large bandaid and on half the bandaid is water and the other half side the dr. puts some steroid on it, places it on your shoulder and then puts a charger on the outside of the bandaid to help in aiding the solutions into your shoulder).

As to your flare-up, I understand your pain as to my last injection done by a different dr. was unbearable ... he did the injection at a completely different site of the back of my armpit vs front shoulder and about 10 minutes after, my shoulder started getting worse and worse with pain ... anyway, they call it possibly an injection flareup or the needle could have actually hit one of the nerves in the shoulder.

I hope you're feeling better from your injection now

Unfortuntely no the cortisone shot did't work for me my ankle still swells and the pain well it's been getting worse everyday. Has anyone had this expirience with a cortisone shot?
