Copying/pasting phone numbers

I am seriously interested in getting a Droid phone; however, in my line of work, I have to have a phone with a very specific function. I need to be able to copy a phone number (from the call log) and paste it into a calendar entry. I am a Sprint customer and have played around with the HTC and Samsung; however, I could not find this feature. Is there a shortcut or an App that will solve this problem?
 
On the Droid you can go to your call log, long click an entry then select "edit number before call". Then long click the number and select "copy all". This will copy the number, then open calendar, create event, long click and paste.

PS this is done natively in android without an app needed. Using google calendar but would assume it would work with any.
 
Alternatively, as all your contacts and calendar is synced with Google, you could even do this online from any PC, Mac, or internet enabled device that supports copy and paste, by simply logging into your Google account, viewing your contacts, and copying the number, clicking your Calendar, and pasting the details into a new event.
 
i appreciate everyone's help. i went to sprint just now and it worked perfectly. i also discovered that if you flip the samsung to the keyboard, there are several shortcuts that can be used. thanks everyone!
 
Trying to do the same on the HTC hero, unfortunately when I long press the phone number it disappears. Any ideas?

I too need this feature and took it somewhat for granted before buying the device.
 
Is there any way that the phone # of the person I am talking to (not in the call log) can be copied?

I rent apartments for a living and I often send SMS Messages with directions to the apartment to the person I am talking to.
 
If you mean... you're on a call to someone who is not in your phonebook, and you want to send them a text message while you are still on a call to them without going into the call log, then the answer is no.

You can only initiate a text message via the phone book, call log, or previously received text.
 
How about the ability to open a calendar entry with a phone number and be able to click and dial it?

The blackberry was able to recognize phone numbers and allow you to dial them no matter the media they were stored in...

I'm on a Captivate ...
