This isn’t a plotline from Sherlock. One month after an Illinois man won $1 million in the lottery he was poisoned to death. Urooj Khan was initially ruled to have died of natural causes, but a new investigation found that there were lethal levels of cyanide in his body. Khan, an Indian immigrant and businessman, jumped for joy after scratching his ticket to reveal a monster prize in June. Chicago police now consider the case a murder, though it’s still unclear who may have poisoned the unfortunate winner.
