Cop Drama-esque shows?

Fillmore, MIB The Series, and some I probably forgot.

Now I am not trying to invoke hate against current shows on air, I am jsut saying that after so much "protagonists on a quest" and other story arcs don't you think now it is a good time for "protagonists tracking down villian of the week" to make a come back?

The more we move away from "villain of the week" format, the better, if you ask me. It would seem to be a step backwards after some shows managed to tell a set, continuing story.

I think it could go under both categories. DCAU Batman and The Batman definitely had a continuing storyline, while keeping villain of the week formula for the early seasons.

The Brave and The Bold however, seems to completely embrace it, also bringing it up a level by adding superhero team up of the week.

Sure, I'd just prefer if it was about a main bad guy the good guys were trying to catch, rather than a new one every episode. Sort of like Death Note, I suppose, though without magic notebooks of death and spirits and whatnot.

As long as the writing is good, who cares if it has a goal or not? It's good that we have some shows which do so, but not every show needs to be in that format.

Would Gargoyles count? Eliza Maza had kind of a continuing storyline to get revenge on Xanatos for what happened to her brother, not to mention she was constantly trying to bring down a mob boss (forget his name). Then there was her partner Matt Bluestone's quest to find the Illuminati.

I think Gargoyles would count too.

Others that would fit that general description:

Savage Dragon
Invasion America
Roswell Conspiracies
both Ben 10 shows

Why would they need to make a come back when they never left? I mean, that describes pretty much the entire current action block on CN: Batman:TBATB, Secret Saturdays, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and Ben 10:AF.

Given that it's a cop show that mixes stand alone episodes with arc episodes (hence the name Stand Alone Complex), Ghost in the Shell: SAC would fit too.

Witch Hunter Robin probably falls under this "investigate and catch" formula too, although I've only seen a handful of episodes.
