Cool 'Star Trek' Posters

I like the posters.

The only actor who has any resemblance is Zachary Quinto as the young Spock. I have a hard time getting my head around how the other main crew actors are going to be able to pull it off.

As a Trekkie fan (OS), I'm not sure about this one at all, but it's early days. And I'm miffed that they didn't think of asking Bill Shatner. :( He's the legendary Captain Kirk, for goodness sake!

Yeh but its meant to be to do with the beginnings of star trek..... I don't think all the botox in the world would have made William Shatner look young enough for the role!

Pure speculation on my part, but I think the film will start with old Spock visiting Kirk's grave on Veridian 3 - hence no Shatner. Most of the film will then be Spock remembering how they first met.

Old Spock is very much involved! It's more than him just reminiscing about the old days.

Leonard Nimoy's appearance is the reason they needed an actor with a big resemblence to classic Spock. With the rest of the cast they didn't need to be as strict. I mean, look at Simon Pegg, nothing like James Doohan (Scotty). Zoe Saldana, who's playing Uhura, doesn't look like Nichelle Nichols, even on this poster where she's done up as Uhura. And Chris Pine only looks fleetingly like young Kirk.

They shouldn't fret about the resemblence. I don't think it's important that they're exactly the same characters, just that they ARE good characters acted well.

I agree and it has already been stated that the movie is not a direct prequel to the exisiting Star Trek series. Yes, Leonard Nimoy will connect it to TOS and spin-oRAB etc, but the audience should look upon it as him just playing an older version of Spock, more than connecting it to existing continuity. I don't think the script adheres strongly to established Star Trek facts. Its a bit like Casino Royale. And I think any subsequent movies will separate it from previous Star Trek series and movies.
