Cooking eggs in the microwave?

Alright, so today a friend of mine was telling me about how you can break an egg, put it in a coffee cup, put it in the microwave for 2 minutes on high power, and then puts it onto an English muffin to make his own "Egg McMuffin." I thought it was a pretty good idea, so I want to try it... So, my question is: Is it safe to microwave eggs? And if so, how can I tell if they're fully cooked?

Thanks, I'm not much a cooking type of person... hence cooking eggs in the microwave.
