contusion of wrist

I was in a motorcycle accident aug.30 in a different country. They took x-rays there, said it wasn't broken. "contusion".

Besides the x-ray, a few weeks of massage from chyro, nothing's been done and it still hurts quite a bit.

It's not swollen, no restriction in movement.

Exercise it? or rest it? (at this point)

Family doctor is extremely hard to talk to. Last time I went (oct 6th), he didn't look at it, nothing. All he said was "just tendons. Give it time."

I REALLY don't like going to see him. :( Should it be healed by now?

I have maintained most of my normal activities. I stop whatever i'm doing if it hurts.

Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

the first thing you really need to do is find a much more hands on and caring primary doc, that really is kind of negligent. if you cannot talk to this doc(or he doesn't seem to want to talk to you,his patient),what kind of overall care are you really getting,ya know? our primarys are just supposed to have OUR best interest at heart.

i am wondering just how thoroughly you were checked out post accident, what types of radiologic testing did they do and where on your body did they do it? considering the mechanism of injury, you could have problems stemming from your c spine or even your shoulder, that could possibly causing your hand issues. or you actually were injured at a much deeper level in your wrist which would take an MRI of your hand on up thru that shoulder too,to really see for certain whats up in the hand/arm area. even hitting your elbow extremely hard could casue problems further down.

if i were you i would either speak with your primary about possibly obtaining further testing(MRI) or find yourself another primary who simply cares about his patients. you have to really look at what caused the injury in the first place and how impactful this can be to your body and test what you KNOW took the bigger hits. this should have been done at the hospital with at least a CT. this would be pretty standard in the ER if you had the type of accident you did here in the states. you just need to do whats best for you. Thanks feelbad

I agree 100% about your comment of family doctors. Unfortunately waiting lists for new ones,,,,is long. I usualy don't bother with him, in the years i've been going, i've only needed him 3 times, this being the third. :(

I am canadian, accident in NY. I have no insurance. ALthough my bike insurance covered the whole thing. ($1500.00 for two x-rays and ambulance ride). At the accident itself, I told them I was fine (not knowing my insurance covered it). They really didn't give me a choice for my knee and wrist as it was quite obvious. They just did the two x-rays.

After they took me off that board (first and hopefully last time in an ambulance-awful feeling!) within 5 mins, they all left the room, I got up and put my boots on. I needed a cigarette! I do say, i'm impressed how nice everyone was. (Except for my friend who caused the accident. He ended up being shipped out to Vermont for an operation.) Bikes were impounded and I was in NY.

It's a good story. Better then my last one, dropping the bike on wet grass. lol.

My elbow, shoulder's fine. My back and neck, well, unfortunately, I have chronic back pain, before the accident. The docs here "fluff it off" since it was hurting before the accident.

My tooshie is another story. I still feel like i'be been kicked by a chydesdale. But, that's another story.

Do I exercise or wrap it?

Should it be healed by now?

If you've ever sprained anything, how long did it take to heal? I usualy brake bones. This is worst. :(

Thanks again .
