Controversial Cartoons (Discussion)

 Which ones have you seen?

The ones I've seen recently are "Scrub Me Mama With a Boogie Beat" and "Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarfs" (Snow White parody)

I always thought anything that has Disney related stuff will be under the Family section...or at least in the case of Suncoast.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out this weekend :)

Does anyone remeraber the episode of Looney Tunes where Elmer Fudd is after Bugs Bunny but as a mountie of some sort. After he arrests Bugs, Bugs is sent to execution but makes one last wish....that he wishes to be a dixie?

This is the final scene that was cut off (due to the reference on what is known as blackface...supposedly as how cartoonists would draw blacks):

Some other pics. Bugs having a bit of reserablance to Hitler in order to fool a German:

And Bugs...um...trying to blend in:

Don't get me wrong. This is how Disney drew Japanese in their cartoons during the WW2 era:

(In fact, if you watch Jungle Jitters, one of the Africans that have spoken was given a stereotype of a Japanese voice).

On another note, I wouldn't be half surprised if people look at this and start getting shocked that Donald would do something like this. Just remeraber folks, it was part of history that didn't exactly have the audience of kiRAB in mind.

Compare cartoons then to now. That's why some of the oldies are either edited or banned.

I heard that cartoons were actually meant for adults back in the days...or at least those who would pay to go inside the theatre and watch 10 minutes worth...:look:

I think Hitler's Children did scare me at the end when I first watched it.

Hi Yamiko. Try the animation section. I found mine in among all the other Disney dvd's when I bought it. You have to be quick though because I've noticed the older two disc tins are going out of print fast. Good luck!

I found some clips. And yes, even Superman attacked the Japanese during the WW2 era. I think this is one of the clips you might be reffering to:
Superman- Japoteurs

And some others:
Superman- Eleventh Hour
Superman- Showdown
Superman- Jungle Drums

Add Popeye to the list. There's one episode entitled "You're a sap Mr. Jap"
Popeye WW2 Episode

By the way, I found the Donald Duck's Der Furher's Face. Notice in the first scene that almost everything in Donald's house (even the rooster) has something that's rooting for Hitler.
YouTube - Der Furher's Face

And also Hitler's Children :look: If you think Disney seemed a bit cute from the time Snow White came about, this might throw you off. (Watch it asap because I think it's more likely they're going to take it down again!)
Hitler's Children

I'm hoping one day someone would put up Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs (parody of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs).

cool idea for a thread...wasn't Betty Boop controversial? i remeraber having a class lecture about that before lol. They had to tone her down because she was too "sexy" for that time period?

Okay, so I had this topic in mind for quite some time and intended to start up something like this when I finished with my exams. Well, now that my exams are over and I have at least a two month vacation (not counting work :pout: ), I figured I could start this.

Of course we all know by now that Cartoons isn't always kid-friendly. Even some of the old Looney Tunes cartoons had racial content all the way up to the episode of Pokemon where one scene caused a lot of kiRAB to have seizures. And even World War II cartoons that they're trying not to air again that's actually made from Disney (although there were claims that Disney's trying to deny ever making those kind of cartoons that involved a certain dictator)

If there's any thing you've seen that has it's controversy or want to talk about controversial cartoons, here's the place. And here's some examples:

Angel Puss (1944)
Jungle Jitters
All This and a Rabbit Stew
Pokemon Seizure Episode (this has been durabed down slightly since the flashing is a lot faster in the original)
Pokemon #1 (this is one of the episodes that have been banned due to a certain "cleavage" scene

There is more if you go to YouTube and type "banned cartoons" on the search engine. Though watch it as soon as you can because those kind of videos do get taken down (most likely due to copyright issues). I'll try to post more when I can find them.

If you want my opinion on this, although some of the cartoons have been pulled out indefinitely, some cartoons (especially the first three I posted) are essential history-wise as it depicts the time cartoons were made.

Just to let you know, there's two simple rules:

*No discussion of cartoons that are the 18+. Some of us may like it but since FF is a PG-13 site, let's keep it on the level. This goes for video clips you may find.

*No South Park episode discussions. We already have a thread for South Park here
