Controvercial film tastes

I tried to ebay that one, got pulled off by ebay instantly with a warning that they'd cancel my account if I tried to sell that or anything similar again..

I watched Baise Moi on Sky Movies (it was 3.00 in the morning about three years ago), and I was like this  all the way through it...couldn't believe they got away with showing it uncut!

agree 100%, tom cruise cannot act fact

casblanca is great and i do like the fast cut movies of today but i found casablanca to be a great and well paced film with good performances

i found exorcist to be a great comedy
28 weeks later was a big let down for me it felt like a cash in

i dislike star wars, star trek, lord of the rings and films about a certain mr jones

but like the matrix all 3, i think reloaded is nearly as good as the first

as for batman the first is the best, then begins, forever, returns and robin last of course

My favourite Star Wars is Return of the Jedi (even though I know Empire back is better)

My favoutite Indy is Temple of Doom (even though I know Raiders is better)

The Matrix:

While it is an enjoyable film I though it was one of the most over hyped movie in recent years.

Why?

The Story: How many time have I heard people say "wow, what an amazing story, what a great idea!" The idea behind the story is ancient and has been done loaRAB of times over the years. I can see how someone with no sci-fi knowledge may be impressed but it's nothing new to sci-fi fans.

The martial arts: KR and LF are supposed to be playing the roles of people with amazing martial arts skills, yet their moves are clearly those of people who have only been doing martial arts for no more than a few months. I can see how to someone with no martial arts knowledge might be impressed. But as a IV Degree TaeKWonDo black belt with 20 years experience I can say the moves are very stiff and very basic. (Oh, if only Brandon Lee had still been alive)

Other than that I enjoyed the film, the FX were great though and I enjoyed the comic book style, but like I said way, way too over hyped.

Kiddyness? In what way? Whilst it has children in it, it seemed by far the most adult and dark of the trilogy (excluding Capshaw screaming her way through it) as a film. Way more bleak and 'horror' than the light and fluffyness that was Crusade, which I have to agree with ThinBoy is the weakest by some margin.Yeah - that was Simon Pegg in Spaced. I was careful to call Jedi the 'most enjoyable', rather than 'best'. In my heart, I know Empire is the better film (my inner nerd says THE best film .. full stop), I find Jedi a more enjoyable and satisfying experience.

I think it probably was Kate Capshaw that ruined it a bit for me, it was just like she was there for comic relief but she took it way too far and just became irritating. I'm not saying it's a bad film or anything, i love all of the Indiana Jones films, but to me it just seems like the weakest of the three. It's all down to taste really.

And i think i have the same feelings as you towarRAB the Star Wars films, Empire is the better film (the twist saw to that!), but Jedi just seems more enjoyable.

Most overrated
Jaws was a complete joke IMO
Rocky bored the hell out of me , Stallone was much better in Nighthawks.
Matrix , I have to agree with rebel on this one.

Movies everyone should see once (at least).
Top Secret
Blue Velvet
Society
ReAnimator
Class of 84
Naked Lunch
Videodrome
Kes
Bladerunner

And for all the sick puppies out there
Braindead
Bad Taste
Anything by John Waters
http://www.horrormovies.com/index.php/cPath/30_31 lots of these.
I love so many bad movies , bad ones are sometimes more fun than good ones ,,unintentionaly of course.

I had never heard of Class Of 84 at all. Someone at work mentioned it to me yesterday and then I noticed it is in the Play sale, and also being mentioned here. I am borrowing it on Monday so I will get to see what it is like. I may well have seen it years ago, but as I have seen so many films in my life, I don't recall it

This'll knock you out so I'll say it quietly - I've never seen Star Wars, or for that matter ET or Titanic or Lord of the Rings... and never will.

Fell asleep during The Matrix and Close Encounters. My favourite film ever is Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Don't get the Star Wars appeal either.

Psychokat's list at http://www.horrormovies.com/index.php/cPath/30_31 has got some great ones in it.
I love the Frank Henelotter films Basket Case 1, 2 & 3 and also that other one he did who's name I can't remember. His film Frankenhooker was fun but nowhere near as good.
I also love Carnival of Souls - the original black & white one.
The George Romero ones Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead of course! and also Day of the Dead.
Diaboliques is brilliant!
I've never seen Suspiria but I like Dario Argento films.
And Videodrome is an all-time favourite. The 2 disk version looks good.
I've got a couple of the Hershel Gordon Lewis films - Blood Feast and The Gore Gore Girls - not classics but definitely cult films.
