Contract is up!! New phone time!!

Hey everyone

Its been a long time coming, my alltel contract is finally up and I can get rid of my crappy ol Moto T720!

I had my heart set on a Nokia 6682. Amazon was offering it for $99 after rebate, which was an awesome phone for an awesome price. Well of course, it becomes "unavailable" a couple weeks before my old contract is up, so if I want it, its $299 from Cingular directly. Thats too much. My sweet spot is $100 or $150 (service commitment is ok).

Here's what I'm looking for in my new phone. Must have features.

-Uncrippled bluetooth. I need to be able to transfer anything I want from PC to phone and phone to PC. I have a nice PC at home, so I don't want to bother with net usage on my phone. I'd rather use my PC and then send it to my phone.

-mp3 ringtones. I like alot of obscure music, which I would really like to have as my ringtone. Therefore, I need to be able to put whatever crazy song I want on my phone and have it be used as a ringer.

-Decent camera. Yea, I know its hard to get a phone without one now.

-Other random thoughts: I had been leaning towards a candybar phone, just because I'm mildly tired of the flip action, but thats no big deal. I also was happy to read user accounts that Nokia phones have phenominal reception, so if all other things were equal, I'd pick Nokia.

Carrier doesn't matter too awful much. Coverage quality will vary for two people standing right next to each other on the same network, so its kind of a moot arguement for me. They all offer the same plans with the same features these days, so the difference to me is nominal.

Thats the criteria I can think of at the moment. Any ideas?

Thanks for your opinions.

Cingular is launching the Motorola SLVR L7 in a couple days. Consider that phone with a plan. It has an uncrippled Bluetooth (stay away from Verizon or Sprint) and plays MP3's and has iTunes with a 512MB memory card (some versions have an MP3 player instead). The downsides are, it's only a VGA camera, iTunes has that silly 100 song limit imposed by Apple and the 5MB built in Flash memory is way too small for more than a couple MP3 ringtone clips. On the upside it's quad-band, stylish, good battery life, Bluetooth is solid as is the RF performance. I use its predecessor the ROKR and I really enjoy it.

It is $199 with a plan so it is a little above your price target. The ROKR is basically the same phone and you can get it free with a plan.

If you can wait a couple months and go month to month with Alltel you can buy SLVR when the price drops.

Tango Uniform.

Now that the z520a is re-released and fixed (although it is a flip phone) it seems pretty good. Pricewise it's pretty hard to beat as far as features : price.

Thanks agent, I think that might actually be the winner. Where were you a week and a half ago before I began a new month with alltel? Now I have to wait til my cycle runs out at the end of the month!

One Q though, do you know if the BT is fully functional? I'm under the impression that all BT phones on Cingular are un-crippled, but its that important to me that I double check.

Thanks

No problem. It's uncrippled. Just make sure you get the fixed version. It's supposed to have a yellow sticker on the box and on the phone inside the battery compartment. Enjoy!

Hmm... I'm ordering from Amazon to take advantage of their $150 rebate. I guess I'll just haveta hope thats the one they send, and ***** if its the older one.
