Contract is almost up (verizon)- where to get upgrade phone?

I'm on a family plan with one of my parents and our contract is up this November. When we got our phones and contract we got it through walmart.com because the phones were cheaper than we saw on verizons website.
Now that our contracts are almost up I was wondering where the best place is to renew the contract at to maybe get a cheaper family plan and even cheaper upgrade phones? If it's at all possible to renew the contract from say walmart.com again or amazons current cheap phone deals on their website.

I'm going to be getting an android phone (droid 2 or droid x.. still not sure) or maybe a new phone, i'm not sure what else is coming out soon for verizon.

But does anyone know if I'd be able to renew the contract from someone other than verizons store if I find cheap phones there?We aren't really sure how this stuff works and any input/advice is welcome.

I'd think You can renew at any authorized Verizon dealer, but I've never gotten a phone through any place but a carriers store (beside the n1)
 
try phoning to cancel/upgrade and see what deal they offer you, retentions can give better deals than the stores, you can always say you'll have to think about it, if you want to back out.

they really want to keep you as a customer, tell them you saw a good deal on another carrier.

i got a offered 50% discount on my phone plan if i renewed without getting a phone, said i'd have to think about it, they gave it to me anyway, then i called to cancel again and they gave me a free phone as well, still at half price per month.
 
Usually they'll contact you in an attempt to get a renewal. However if you don't renew you'll just pay month to month what your current plan is....
